One amazing day

Do It Day is the red letter third Friday of October when people give their time and skills to make a real difference in South Africa. Do It Day connects groups of volunteers with good causes giving them access to professional skills, time and 'sweat equity' for one amazing day.

In 2007, GreaterGood South Africa staff joined corporate and individual volunteers working on 60 projects across South Africa.

A total of 709 volunteers gave their time, skills and sweat to good causes for a day - proving once again that South Africans really are a big hearted nation.

Please note

This campaign is not active and is for demonstration-purposes only.

Cansa - Adopt a room project (Single Bedrooms)

Sign-up for this project or find out more.

Children with cancer are treated in a couple of hospitals in South Africa. There are only a few central treatment centres for childhood cancer in South Africa. Currently we have a limited number of pediatric oncologists in the country. Parents who live far from the hospital cannot always afford to travel to and fro; therefore these children in years gone by used to undergo a large part of the treatment alone in the hospital without the necessary assistance and support. Parents without medical aid receive treatment free of charge. These children get the mainstream protocols, but in most situations lack the additional support due to a limited health budget. Some of the children stay at the hospital for the total duration of the treatment and school-going children miss a year of their school career. We need to upgrade a building for the parents to stay close to their sick children
